Mr Blue-Tongue

Eastern Blue-Tongue Skink trying to catch a bit of winter sun on top of his home in our compost heap.

As a snail and slug eater he is most welcome to stay, even if I can’t turn the compost. No snail pellets please (the poisoned snails can be eaten by the skink who in turns dies). 😢 . This one is safe in our garden. 😊

Snail Exterminator

Eastern Blue-tongue lizard.  Scientific name: Tiliqua scincoides scincoides.

Eats snails and though he can give a nasty bite he doesn’t have teeth or venom which makes him postively friendly by Australian standards. His main defence when threatened is to stick out his blue tongue, very scary!

NSW, Australia
